The article entitled "SUperman: Efficient Permanent Computation on GPUs," co-authored by Deniz Elbek, an undergraduate student in the Computer Science and Engineering Program at Sabancı University, has been published in the journal Computer Physics Communications (Q1).
The article, co-authored by our Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences member Kamer Kaya, describes algorithms that can perform permanent computation of matrices much more efficiently on GPUs (graphics processing units) and the SUperman software. The software, developed for the extremely difficult-to-compute permanent function, makes it possible to solve large-scale problems much faster through distributed computing and GPU usage.
